Wedding Advice and Wedding Tips from your wedding planner
Choosing your wedding date
Investigate local events and other activities such as trade conference, charity runs, concerts and alike that could affect traffic and hotel room availability. If you already have your day selected it is still good to know what might be going on at the same time so that you can at least plan for it.
Consider Mother Nature
Guests have been known to skip out early from hotter-than-hot summer weddings and improperly heated winter loft receptions.
Bugs (sandflies and mosquitoes) also swarm in certain areas during certain seasons. Consider renting pest control tanks or including bug repellent in guests' gift bags.
Outside wedding ceremony?
Have something semi heavy on your signing table to keep the paperwork from flying away. This could be a nice vase with flowers, a candle or a frame with tribute words to those who cannot be here today
Anxious to have your ring bearer hold the rings??
Have you rings travel in a box or another container that will be more secure than a pillow. Alternatively let him carry a less valuable item like a unity candle or a book that the readers will use. Talk to your officiant to brainstorm other ideas
Wedding ceremony petals tip
Camellia's petals look very much like rose petals. Camellias are in bloom early autumn through to spring and are widely available in NZ. So why not use it's petals instead of rose petals?
Wedding Photography tip
Make sure you ask your photographer to catch this unique, vibrant, full of emotions moment - just before you get given away- the intimate and touching moment with you loved one
Seasonal wedding venue tip
Do ask your venue to show you what's in bloom and what isnt in a season of you Bigday. Especially if you are looking a few months in advance, the seasonal changes can be quite dramatic.
Take advantage of high wedding costs
Sign up for a credit card and take advantage of the high wedding costs. Consolidating all wedding related purchases to this card will help you accumulate thousands of rewards points, which you can then use for your honeymoon (i.e. airline miles)
Another unforseen wedding expense is
feeding your wedding day crew. Before you sign the contracts, make sure you're not required to serve the same meal to your vendors that guests will receive. Otherwise, you could be paying for 20 additional lobster tails. You can choose a less expensive (but equally hearty) meal for them instead.
Write your own personalised
Wedding Vows
One thing you have got to remember is that beyond all the lights and tensile, bridesmaids’ dresses, wedding flowers, candy bars, photo booths and personalised hangers, at the end of the day what really lasts - are your wedding vows.
